I carry Quilter’s Dream batting — a high quality batting made in America.
I stock three varieties in select weight, but others can be special ordered. Quilter’s Dream describes their products:
Quilter’s Dream Blend batting is …70% Cotton blended with 30% Fine Denier Poly Microfibers creating the perfect batting especially developed for machine quilting. The highest grade of USA cleaned natural cotton is blended with our silky fine denier polyester microfibers. These perfectly blended fibers are carded and crosslapped for a smooth consistent web that is layered on to a light scrim and specially needlepunched. No need to prewash – shrinkage is minimal. Stitches up to 12″ apart yet remains soft when closely quilted.”
Quilter’s Dream Cotton starts with the finest USA cotton and is carded, crosslapped and specially needlepunched. 100% natural and environmentally friendly, our batting proudly bears Cotton Incorporated’s seal. Our special process prevents shifting and lumping. It has a very high thermal value (R=3.8) warm yet light. Stitching up to 8″ apart allows quilters wonderful freedom of design. Needles (by machine and hand) glide smoothly through the fine, consistent, even webbing. The finished quilt may be machine washed and dried. Shrinkage is minimal (1%) so prewashing is not recommended. Drapes beautifully giving a traditional look and feel to your quilt.
Quilter’s Dream Wool is made with a Scoured and Super Washed Domestic & Fine Merino Wool that has been blended, carded, crosslapped & thermally bonded.* The wool is scoured and super-washed for superior cleanliness and to eliminate shrinkage. Quilters Dream’s unique processing creates wool batting with exceptionally soft drape, uniformity and strength. They have a wide range of colors and designs and carry extra wide backs as well as borders sets. To see their selection, visit their website at SewBatik.com. Their fabric is only sold online and at major quilt shows like MQX and at their headquarters in North Dakota. After all the time and work you have put into your quilt, be sure to label it so future generations will know its history. I have a growing selection of quilt labels to help you put that finishing touch on your quilt. I can also make a custom quilt label with a photo or special text. (See Labels page for more information).
I stock a selection of Superior Threads (made in America) to match your quilt that provide quality and strength for longarm quilting. Specialty threads can be ordered for an additional fee. There is a $10 additional charge for each color change.
Superior (http://www.superiorthreads.com) has a great website with lots of information on thread selection. Bob Purcell, owner of the company, also teaches a wonderful class on thread at MQX and other major quilt shows that I highly recommend.
